Long time no see! I have a few updates on my own journey:
Wrote a new guide for my website where I discuss building a home gym on a budget without having to compromise your exercise selection. Go check it out at sirkisfitness.com!
Missed going heavy but don’t have a home gym (don’t try unless you know what you’re doing) Song: Hyped by @prodpqno
The double-bucket deadlift
Fitness centers pose a huge threat as a vessel of transmission of COVID-19. Regardless of how frequently these facilities report that they are being cleaned, there are simply too many high-contact surfaces to confidently keep the virus at bay. While self-isolating to slow the spread of the new coronavirus, please consider avoiding these facilities. However, avoiding the gym does not mean that you have to avoid fitness! I will be posting at-home exercise alternatives that do not require exercise equipment so that you don't have to halt your workouts in the face of this pandemic. If you happen to have a home gym that you haven't used in a while or just want to avoid becoming a couch potato during this crisis, I am happy to provide some guidance for you!
Though I wasn’t the first to do it, I felt pretty innovative putting together this band-assisted push up variation. I had been trying to find a way to train a push up progression that more or less feels like the real thing, instead of having to use the elevated or kneeling variations which don’t translate all that well in my opinion. The band allows for increased assistance at the bottom position of the push-up where the individual would need the most help.
Flipping tires: arms, shoulders, lats, traps, spinal erectors, abs, glutes, hamstrings, quads, calves. Not too shabby 💪
The deadlift. One of the more controversial exercises out there. Can you get seriously injured doing it? Yes. Can you see massive improvements in your overall strength and see carry-over into your everyday life from doing it? Yes, but only if you deadlift properly! Start super light and focus only on your technique before taking it heavier. Once you begin progressing, always listen to your body. Squeezing out one more rep when you know you’re fatigued will never be worth a serious injury. Shoot me a message if you want more info on deadlifting technique or have a topic in mind you want me to discuss on here! 🏋🏻‍♂️
